Lemon juice helps to lower cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
A lemon contains calories, carbohydrates, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, vitamin C, folate, choline, vitamin A and lutein + zeaxanthin. Lemons are believed to have originated in Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, and China. The title ‘King of Medicinal Herbs’ was bestowed upon these little fruits in ancient times because of their medicinal properties as well as their uses in recipes. Studies have shown that people who consume large quantities of citrus fruit juice daily have a greater resistance to colds in winter and fewer colds overall than those who do not have lemon juice daily. It is thought that regular consumption of citrus fruit juice can help prevent heart disease. Studies suggest that they can also help treat acne due to their ability to tone the skin and cleanse it from within. California and Arizona produce most of the United States’ lemon crop.
